Steamfitting
A steamfitter does the following:
- Plans, designs, installs and services many different types of commercial and industrial piping systems.
- Installs, alters or repairs steam and hot water boiler systems.
- Blueprint reading, drafting and sketching.
- Works with pipe - steel, stainless steel, titanium, copper, fiberglass and many different types of plastic.
- Works with valves, controls and fittings.
- Measures, cuts, threads, grooves, welds, solders, bends and generally fastens, assembles and installs pipe.
- Installs and repairs piping in mines, dams, power plants, oil refineries, pulp and paper mills, chemical plants and on ships.
- A steamfitter must be intelligent, able to make decisions and be productive.
- Must be physically fit and agile.
- Must be willing to travel and often work in remote areas of the province.

Excellent steamfitters make in excess of $27.00 per hour plus benefits on average.
